tutorial Steely Dan Janie Runaway Sequence Midi Music Cakewalk Sonar Drums Guitar Bass Brass Piano
Description: This is part 4 of a 4 part series. It is a demo of making a midi file. I import a Steely Dan song into Sonar then begin creating a midi file, using the original as a pattern. During this series I make a drum line, then guitar, bass, piano and brass. I am 50 years of age and have enjoyed working with MIDI since it began in the early 1980's. dustypuppy ::: Favorites 2007-12-18 19:34:57 thank you With this program, you can play from a keyboard, then go to this "piano roll" view (or the staff view) to fix any mistakes :) have fun Merry Christmas __________________________________________________
tractorbooty15 ::: Favorites 2007-12-18 17:15:24 Wow!! Now I know how you these midi files are built up. I have never seen anyone compose just using the mouse tools. You must have perfect pitch? I do everything from a keyboard but the problem is I'm not a keyboard player. Excellent work!! __________________________________________________

montezumasrevenge ::: Favorites 2007-06-12 06:18:02 A great demo of how to do midi, in a fun way too...not just the boring 'this is midi' way. You used the song to duplicate...it was a good idea. You sound like Sean Connery. In my mind you were Sean Connery teaching me midi. __________________________________________________
marikhman ::: Favorites 2007-04-17 11:18:27 Hey dustypuppy tks a lot buddy for a great tutorial. Even though im using music creator 2 your video really helps alot. __________________________________________________

DreamstateEmergency ::: Favorites 2007-04-14 11:30:53 Hi really enjoyed that...it looks so simple.....i have a sound card with a midi in and out....connection would i be able to use any keyboard to record midi through cubase or sonar as long as it has a midi out lead to go in my midi in on my soundcard to use vst software such as kontakt? or would be good to know i've only dealt with audio i want to get into midi to add new dynamics to my music any help appreciated thanks! __________________________________________________

gbaughma ::: Favorites 2006-09-26 08:17:03 You rock. Oh, I forgot to mention that I just bought a MIDI e-drum set, too... hehe... I'm *really* into MIDI. We should chat somehow (phone or something). __________________________________________________
dustypuppy ::: Favorites 2006-09-25 21:45:25 OK :) I'll see what I can do in the next week or so . . . I already have an idea. Maybe I'll do something with a "Keb Mo" song. No wah-wah but plenty of pitch bends. __________________________________________________
gbaughma ::: Favorites 2006-09-25 20:20:32 I've heard some incredible stuff with wah-wah guitar effects, and I'd love a primer on bends and so forth. My equipment includes a Yamaha MU90R, Kurzweil K2500R, and an Alesis QS8.1. :) __________________________________________________
dustypuppy ::: Favorites 2006-09-25 18:02:08 Thanks for the comments gbaughma. I will be happy to try to do one where I touch more on controllers if I can. You see, I really only know how to "scratch the surface". When I need to go deeper, it inspires me to go further and learn more. What sort of controllers stuff would you like to see ? __________________________________________________
gbaughma ::: Favorites 2006-09-25 09:45:20 That's great, Dusty... You know, I never thought of bringing in the WAV file and using it as a master... how embarassing, since I've been working with MIDI for so long. Any chance of you doing a series on controllers and such? __________________________________________________
dustypuppy ::: Favorites 2006-09-03 19:00:36 you're welcome :) I'm glad you enjoyed it __________________________________________________ |
